SALISBURY — Three people were cited and one arrested for drug possession Wednesday after police say they showed up to a counseling session with drugs.
The probation office received information that some individuals were “selling drugs while at the meeting,” said Salisbury Police Capt. Sheila Lingle.
In a joint effort with the Rowan County Probation Office and the Salisbury Police, officers were able to seize marijuana, smoking pipes and other drugs from those charged.
Terrance Phifer, 22, of 907 Sunset Drive, was issued a citation for possession of a schedule III controlled substance. Officials said he had liquid hydrocodone on him. He was given the citation and released.
Richard Gavidia, 22, of 703 W. Rice St., Landis, was issued a citation for possession of a schedule VI controlled substance. Officials said he had 3.1 grams of marijuana on him contained in little plastic bags.
According to a report, Gavidia tried to eat the substance. He was cited and released.
Michael Aikers, 19, 114 Stoneybrook Road, Salisbury, was issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lingle said he had a homemade smoking pipe.
He was cited and released.
Lisa Aistrop, 35, of 235 Hazel St., China Grove, was arrested and charged with possession of a scheduled IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She had the drug alprazolam, a form of xanax, a medicine used to treat anxiety disorders.
“You have to have a prescription for that,” Lingle said.
Reports said Aistrop had the pills in little bag.
Aistrop was placed in the Rowan County jail under a $1,000 bond. She has since been released.
