Revoked license leads to drug charges

SALISBURY ó The Rowan County Sheriffís Office charged a Salisbury man with felony drug possession Monday after he was pulled over for driving without a license.
Capt. John Sifford said Deputy Nathaniel Phillips stopped Edwin Morris Hobson II, 53, of 255 Edgewood Farm Road, after running his tags to find his license had been revoked.
When Phillips approached the blue van, he smelled alcohol. Sifford said Hobson told Phillips he had consumed alcohol.
A search of the van turned up two bags of crack cocaine, one in the center console and one on the dashboard.
Hobson has been charged with felony possession of cocaine and driving while license revoked.
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $2,000 secured bond.
