SALISBURY — The fast-moving storm with strong, swirling wind gusts that moved through Rowan County late Saturday brought down part of a large, old elm tree at the home Ray and Lois Paradowski, 155 Nottingham Road in the Neel Estates subdivision.
It damaged the roof, door and windows of an attached garage, cracking a recently installed 4- to 6-inch-thick concrete driveway and destroying landscape plants and shrubbery.
A branch put a dent in the side of a Mercury Grand Marquis parked in the drive. The large tree had a branch span covering an area with a circumference of over 150 feet. The fallen segment measures more than 90 feet from the base to the top.
