KANNAPOLIS — A 24-year-old Kannapolis woman is behind bars facing murder charges tonight.
Ebony Justine Smith, 1215 Guinn Ave., is charged in the fatal stabbing of James Damion Mack, Jr., 17, of 1215 Guinn Ave., the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office was dispatched to the Guinn Avenue home in response to a suicide this afternoon, according to a press release.
When investigators arrived on the scene they found evidence that was not consistent with a suicide.
After reviewing the evidence, detectives determined the crime was the result of domestic violence.
Smith did not receive bond. She will be held in the Rowan County Detention Center until her first court appearance at 9 a.m. Tuesday.
