Triathlon camp starts Monday at Catawba

A triathlon camp for children 8-14 years old will be held at Catawba College starting Monday.
The camp is open to both boys and girls, and will run Monday through Friday. Sessions will start at 9 a.m. each morning and will conclude by 1 p.m Lunch will be provided.
Individual and group coaching will be provided for running, biking and swimming. Proven triathlon competition techniques will be used. Monday through Thursday sessions will include one hour instruction in each of the three sports. Friday will conclude the camp with an actual measured and timed triathlon.
All campers are required to bring their own bicycle, bicycle helmet, towel, swimsuit, running apparel and water bottle.
Camp fees are $40 for Salisbury residents and $60 for non-residents.
All campers should meet at Catawba College’s gym patio on Monday morning at 8:45 a.m. Bikes will be stored during the week at the college. All training sessions will be held on the Catawba campus.
Camp instructors are David Freeze, nationally certified running coach and licensed personal trainer, and Kim Miller, certified lifeguard and avid runner.
The camp is offered by Salisbury Parks and Recreation, Catawba College and the Salisbury Rowan Runners.

A second triathlon camp will be offered Aug. 15-19. A children’s running camp will also take place July 11-15.
