Police: Two men shot in E. Spencer last night

EAST SPENCER – Tuesday night around 10:40 p.m. two men arrived at Rowan Regional Hospital for injuries. Both men stated they had just been shot on Long Street in East Spencer, according to a press release from East Spencer Police Chief Floyd Baldo.
The first man, Corey Sims, 21, had been shot twice, once in each arm, according to the report. Sims said he was shot in the 600 block of South Long Street, but gave no additional information to Sgt. Darren Westmoreland, responding officer at the hospital.
The second victim, Matthew Jones, 42, arrived shortly after Sims. Jones told police he had been shot once in the foot in the 400 block of South Long Street. Jones reportedly provided little other information about his injury.
East Spencer Police are unsure if the two shootings are connected, but are investigating.
Sims and Jones are the fourth and fifth people reported to have been shot in East Spencer in the last two weeks.
All of five of the shootings are still under investigation.
