SALISBURY — City Council met in closed session today to interview candidates for interim city manager.
Mayor Susan Kluttz said she did not expect Council to take action today and plans to make an announcement at the July 19 meeting, which will begin at 4 p.m. in City Hall.
Assistant City Manager John Sofley, Planning Director Joe Morris and Human Resources Director Zach Kyle attended the meeting before Council went into closed session.
Kluttz had asked members of the city’s management team to contact her if they were interested in the job. She said she could not reveal how many people Council would interview.
David Treme surprised Council last week by announcing he will retire Aug. 1 after more than 25 years as city manager. His retirement bonus of roughly $35,000 would have doubled if he’d stayed until Dec. 31, 2012.
