Old Beatty Ford Road east of China Grove will not open to traffic tonight as previously planned. The N.C. Department of Transportation will keep the road closed from Organ Church Road to St. Stevens Church Road until Wednesday to complete a pipe replacement project.
Crews need the additional time to address soil conditions in the area, the agency said in a press release.
Motorists should take the following detour routes to avoid the work zone:
• Traveling from Organ Church Road: Take N.C. 152 to U.S. 52 and follow it back to Old Beatty Ford Road.
• Traveling from St. Stevens Church Road: Take U.S. 52 to N.C. 152 and follow it back to Old Beatty Ford Road.
Transportation officials encourage drivers to slow down and pay attention as they travel near the area.
