CLEVELAND ó Downtown merchants are banding together Saturday to host a ěBlock Party on Main.î
The free event will feature the band City Lights playing top 40 hits, games for children and a car show.
Erika Winford, owner of Sweet Tooth Cafe on the 100 block of Main Street, said the event should be a lot of fun, but there is also business to be done. During the event Winford and Donna Hogue, owner of On Second Thought Consignment, will open up shop and talk to residents about the possibility of revitalizing the downtown area.
The women have been working with the Town Board of Alderman since March to brainstorm ideas to spur revitalization.
Now they want to know what kinds of changes the community would like to see. Theyíll be presenting their ideas and asking for feedback through surveys.
ěWe want to bring awareness to the downtown area to get support for the businesses here,î Winford said.
The event will begin at 4 p.m. and run until 8 p.m.
Those interested in entering the car show should contact Hogue at 704-278-2400. The cost is $10.
Sponsors include IGA, Subway and Cleveland Drug.
