Junior Strings group forms

Salisbury Symphony premiers new youth spring ensemble
The Salisbury Symphony recently premiered its newest youth string ensemble.
The Salisbury Junior Strings performed a concert last month in the Stanback Room of Rowan Public Library.
The May concert included American folk songs such as ěArkansas Travelerî and ěTurkey in the Strawî as well as the English folk songs ěCapital Shipî and ěCountry Gardens.î
Classical selections included ěProcessionalî by Handel and ěCarnival of Veniceî arranged by Paganini.
Soloists for the Paganini piece were violinists Blade Blumenthal, William Jones and Emily Walls and violist Matthew Jones.
Salisbury Junior Strings is open to anyone who has completed two years of the Symphonyís After-School Strings program or has had at least one year of private instruction. Karen Franks is the director.
