Severe thunderstorm watch extended to 7 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been extended until 7 PM EDT
for Rowan… Davie and eastern Cabarrus counties…
At 12:43 PM EDT… National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter
size hail… and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storms
were located along a line extending from Cleveland to China Grove to
Mount Pleasant… or along a line extending from 10 miles southeast of
Statesville to 8 miles southwest of Salisbury to 7 miles east of
Concord… moving northeast at 40 mph.
Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to
Faith… Woodleaf… Granite Quarry… Rockwell… Cooleemee… Gold
Hill… Spencer… Sheffield… Mocksville… Craven… Fork church… High
Rock Lake… Farmington… advance and Bermuda Run.
Precautionary/preparedness actions…
People in the path of this storm should be alert for large hail and
damaging winds. Frequent lightning and locally heavy rain can occur
with any thunderstorm. Seek shelter indoors away from windows and
doors until the storm passes.
