MOORESVILLE — A man being served with warrants following a February search of his home faces more charges Monday after authorities report they found marijuana around his home and within the reach of two children living in the home.
Roger Dean Martin, 32, of 1520 Oak Breeze Drive, is in jail under a $5,000 bond for manufacturing marijuana, maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for a controlled substance, simple possession of marijuana, two counts of misdemeanor child abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to reports from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant was served Feb. 3 while Martin was not home, with authorities finding the following:
• A Christmas bag filled with plastic bags containing marijuana residue inside, digital scales and marijuana seeds.
• In the living room, a book with a false compartment that contained plastic bags and scales with cocaine residue was found on a bookshelf.
• On the floor in the living room was a can with the words “puncture seal” on the outside, but the can had a hidden compartment where plastic bags and a small knife with cocaine residue were found.
• In the dining room, 17 small marijuana plants were found under grow lights, on top of a fish tank.
A search of the home Monday found a small amount of marijuana on a plate on Martin’s dresser, and more marijuana and a marijuana grinder inside the dresser. Martin and two children were home Monday, and Martin was arrested. The Rowan County Department of Social Services was contacted about the children.
