FAITH — A fire at 125 Castle Drive has forced a single mother and her 6-year-old son from their home.
A neighbor called 911 around 1 p.m. to report heavy smoke coming from the underpinning of the home. The neighbor then called Megan Miller, 22, who lives in the mobile home with her son, Cameron. Miller rents the home from her father.
A friend of Miller’s had a car packed with belongings, ready to move in this week, but those plans have now changed.
“I am a single mom and I had planned on going back to school,” Miller said. “I wanted to get a roommate to help work out the bills.”
Miller said she will most likely stay with family for the time being.
The Rowan County Fire Marhsal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Bostian Heights, Faith, South Salisbury, Locke and Granite Quarry fire departments responded, along with the Rowan Rescue Squad.
