West Middle students earn recognition
Qualifying students from West Rowan Middle School recently took the same college entrance exams as high school students preparing for college.
These students did well enough to qualify for participation in the State Recognition Ceremony, which honors seventh-graders who have earned scores equal to or better than half of the college-bound seniors who took the tests.
The Duke Talent Identification Program 7th Grade Talent Search identifies students in 16 states who have scored in the 95th percentile on a grade-level achievement test. As part of the program, these academically talented students take above-level, college-entrance exams (SAT or ACT) to learn more about their abilities.
The following seventh- grade students qualified for state recognition from West Rowan Middle School: Kayla Blackburn, Tiffany Dunning, Peyton Greene, Josey Henderson, Susannah Horton, Victoria Orbison, Claudia Patterson, Victoria Patterson, Syed Zaidi.
All nine students from West Rowan Middle School will be recognized this spring in ceremonies at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem.
