On May 5, fifth-grade students from Isenberg Elementary School gathered in the school media center for the second annual Coretta Scott King Book Award Festival.
Students demonstrated book blogs and created keynote presentations to display literary, artistic and historical information on selected book award winners.
According to the American Library Association, the award is ěpresented annually to African American authors and illustrators for outstanding inspirational and educational contributions.î The Coretta Scott King Book Award has been presented for more than 40 years. Books selected as award winners celebrate all cultures and reflect the ěAmerican dream of a pluralistic society.î For more information about the award, browse on ala.org.
