Simple Living Festival is Saturday at Dan Nicholas Park

This Saturday, May 7, Dan Nicholas Park will host the fourth annual Simple Living Festival from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
There is no admission charge for the day’s events, which include demonstrations of traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, wood working, gunsmithing, knife making, flute making, guitar making, wood carving, spinning/weaving, basket weaving and dulcimer making.
At the Nature Center there will be animal programs, trail walks, bear feedings, meet-the-animal events and childrens games and activities.
In addition, the latest environmentally friendly “Enviro Autos” will be on display, courtesy of local dealers.
Special music will be featured throughout the day from Eden’s Gate, a folk/Americana/bluegrass guitar and fiddle duo (comprised of Jamey Basinger and Melissa Benfield Adams). Other music will be provided by Gospel trio Richard Jones, Jim Gobble and Sara Coughenour, as well ast Michael and Gaynell Lambert.
The Simple Living Festival is sponsored by Salisbury Parks & Recreation, the Boy Scouts of America, the Land Trust of Central NC, the Carolina Raptor Center, Catawba College Center For The Environment, the NC Forest Service, Davidson County Community College and the Humane Society of Rowan County.
