Bus Roadeo winners
SALISBURY ó The annual Rowan-Salisbury Schools School Bus Roadeo was held April 12 at the Transportation Department facility on Old Concord Road.
The Roadeo is a driving skills competition for regular, permanent drivers of Rowan-Salisbury Schools. The first and second place winners will advance to the District Roadeo to be held in Union County on Friday, May 13. The top 10 contestants of the district Roadeo will then advance to the state Roadeo to be held at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh on Thursday, May 26.
Ten Rowan-Salisbury Schools bus drivers competed in the local Roadeo:
Bryson Nesbitt of Corriher-Lipe Middle School and South Rowan High School;
Willie Neal of China Grove Middle School, China Grove Elementary School and Knollwood Elementary School;
Debra Owens-Warren of Ethan Shive Elementary School;
Karen Cawley of Ethan Shive Elementary School;
Keith Parrott of Hurley Elementary School;
Jackie Neal of Southeast Middle School, Erwin Middle School, and Henderson Independent School;
Anthony Dudas of Knollwood Elementary School;
Suzanne Gregor of Knollwood Elementary School;
Hilda Boswell of Landis Elementary School, China Grove Elementary School and Henderson Independent School;
Anna Bradshaw of Enochville Elementary School.
The first place winner is Cawley and she will receive an Amazon Kindle and certificate of recognition. The second place winner is Nesbitt and he will receive a digital camera and certificate of recognition. The third place winner and alternate is Bradshaw and she will receive an MP3 player and certificate of recognition. Nesbitt and Cawley will represent Rowan-Salisbury Schools at the district Roadeo.
