According to a situation report from Frank Thomason, chief of emergency services for Rowan County, early morning storms have left trees down, particularly in the eastern part of the county.
Residents in the eastern part of Rowan County say strong winds hit their area overnight and early this morning, resulting in scattered debris, broken tree limbs and downed trees.
As of 9:30 a.m., Duke Energy reports 1,451 customers without power. As of early Thursday, there were no storm-related injuries reported.
No major injuries or accidents have been reported, although some roads
have been temporarily closed to clear trees and debris.
The Emergency Operations Center set up Wednesday is not manned this
morning, with normal operations expected to return by noon.
No shelters were opened.
Thomason says Duke Energy customers just east of Kannapolis and in the
Liberty community suffered the most power outages.
