Spencer Arbor Day celebration Saturday

SPENCER — The Spencer Community Appearance Commission is hosting Spencer’s second annual Arbor Day Celebration. The free event will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Eighth Street Ballpark.
The North Rowan Show Choir performs at noon, and special appearances will be made by the Easter Bunny, Cub Scouts, several animals from the Dan Nicholas Park Nature Center and blue bird expert and author Pamela Kirby.
Highlights include live music; more than 40 educational, business and government vendor booths; children’s activities such as games and crafts, and a chance to explore a Toyota Prius, antique fire truck and police car.
Activities will include a moonbounce, compliments of TeamBounce, face painting, free popcorn, games and tree saplings, geocaching (treasure hunting with your GPS) and more.
In celebration of Arbor Day, the Spencer Community Appearance Commission will plant two crape myrtle trees at the ballpark.
