David and Angela Lore are out of jail one week after being arrested on 13 charges, the result of an investigation by the Rowan County Department of Social Services and Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.
Angela Lore said Thursday afternoon she’s “not the best” she’s ever been, but, the family’s pet store, Pet Place, was back in business.
Detectives and a DSS caseworker found the Lore’s four children had been living in the family’s Rockwell home with three malnourished dogs, at least one dead and decaying animal in the home, animal feces ground into the carpet, and a roach infestation, with roaches even in the children’s beds.
The four children — ages 7, 9, 14 and 16 — had never been enrolled in public school and are now living with family.
David Lore Jr., 37, and Angela Lore, 35, of 3435 Rockwell Road, each face four counts of child abuse and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
They also face three counts apiece of animal cruelty.
Their next appearance in court is scheduled for April 6.
