As family and friends said goodbye to 17-year-old East Rowan High School senior Cody Ludwick at services Wednesday, one friend paid tribute in a song the whole world can now hear.
Thomas Green wrote and performed “Cody’s Song (Spread Your Wings)” and put it on YouTube along with a video that includes pictures of Cody, who died Saturday after recently undergoing his second open-heart surgery.
Beneath the video, Green wrote, “Cody was a friend of mine, I recorded this in his memory.”
Green has posted the song and written out the lyrics on his YouTube channel, Greenguy32123.
Friends gathered Saturday and Sunday nights and Monday after school to remember Cody, an athlete, Honor Society and Young Life Club member and Eagle Scout.
Cody’s family, including parents Michael Todd Ludwick and Linda Susanne Eagle Ludwick and brother Dalton Ludwick, received friends before his funeral Wednesday at St. Matthews Lutheran Church.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Family Life Center, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146; or Levine Children’s Center, Cardiac Unit, P.O. Box 32861, Charlotte, NC 28232.
