The excitement was contagious as Salisbury Academy’s junior kindergarten through second grade students spent the morning with local children’s author Cathy Cress Eller.
Eller shared her story of becoming an author, introduced the students to her bug characters, and read aloud from her latest book, “Madelyn Butterfly and Emma Cricket Wing It.”
In keeping with the lesson from the book, students shared their gifts and talents with Eller. Following the reading, Eller autographed books for the students.
Eller is the mother of two grown children and “Nana” to three granddaughters. In 2006 she retired and began to focus on writing stories she had been filing away while raising her children. She promised herself and others to publish and share them when she retired.
Eller has published three books and plans on writing two more for the Carnella series. She and her husband, Freddie, live in Salisbury.
