The driver of a Ford Windstar van was flown to a nearby hospital after colliding with an Arnold Transport tractor-trailer truck around 1 a.m.
Tow truck driver Jeff Tysinger took photos of the crumpled van and sent them to the Salisbury Post. He said the collision happened on the Exit 81 ramp.
Emergency scanner traffic indicated the victim of the crash possibly suffered head injuries.
N.C. Trooper K.G. Barringer investigated, but had not completed his report by late this morning.
