EAST SPENCER ó The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Beverly A. Roberts as principal of Landis Elementary School.
Roberts, currently principal of Sharon Elementary School in Statesville, will take over the job after Christmas break.
She has been principal at Sharon Elementary since August 2007.
The vote came after a brief closed session at Monday night’s regular board meeting.
Roberts is no stranger to the district: from 2005 to 2007, she was principal of Knollwood Elementary. She has also worked in the Newton-Conover City Schools as principal and assistant principal.
Roberts holds a master’s degree in school administration from Indiana University in Indianapolis, and a master of science degree in education from Butler University.
Outgoing Landis Elementary Principal Marianne Haywood is taking over as project director for the Carol M. White Physical Education Program federal grant awarded to the Rowan-Salisbury Schools.
Roberts is the third principal the board has hired in less than a week.
The board voted at last Monday’s work session to hire Kristi L. Dye-Rhone as the principal at Erwin Middle, replacing Ray Whitaker.
Also at that meeting, Shanda Hughes McFarlin was named principal of Hanford Dole Elementary, replacing James Griffin.
