Winter wonderland

The snow and ice that made roads treacherous late Friday created conditions for beauty and play Saturday. Kids and their pets got out and played, while the sun and warming temperatures began melting icicles and ice-encrusted snow.
After road crews cleared roads Saturday, motorists could again get around without sliding around, and local authorities reported no serious accidents. Though with temperatures dropping into the high 20s again Saturday night and early this morning, icy patches were a concern.
Today’s temperatures are expected to climb into the high 40s and forecasters say sunny skies will remain through Thursday, Christmas Eve, when rain and ice could return.
