Schools closed, tour postponed

After a morning of rain and sleet, snow has started to fall in the area, leading to school closings and changes in events.
Spencer’s Candlelight Tour of Churches has been postponed; a new date will be announced.
The dedication Mass for the new Sacred Heart Catholic Church will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. as planned.
The Rowan-Salisbury School System closed 3 hours early today. There will be no evening and weekend activities. The early closing is for students only.
Kannapolis City Schools had a staggered closing. Kannapolis Intermediate School and Middle School closed at 10:15 a.m.; all elementary schools were dismissed at 11 a.m.; A.L. Brown High School and McKnight Kindergarten closed at 11:45 a.m., according to spokesperson Ellen Boyd.
Cabarrus County Schools closed at 10 a.m.
North Hills Christian: closed at noon; no afterschool care.
Rowan Transit System: closed at noon.
Sacred Heart Catholic School closed at 1 p.m.
