Salisbury man fights off would-be robber at ATM

A Salisbury man taking money from an ATM fought off an attempted robbery Wednesday.
John William Barszcz reported to Salisbury Police he was getting money from an ATM at 500 East Innes St., when someone came up behind him and snatched the money.
Barszcz then turned around and grabbed the man’s arm and got his money back.
He called police and provided a description.
A short time later police apprehended Charles Smith, 46, 1331 Brenner Ave., and charged him with felony common law robbery.
According to a police report, Smith told police that he was not trying to rob him, but instead wanted to warn him that “there were some boys that were going to rob him.”
Charges filed by Salisbury Police on Dec. 9:
– David Franklin Lee, was charged with felony breaking and entering,
– Stephanie Marie Brownlow was charged with felony breaking and entering.
