Friday: Commemorating Kann. 25th anniversary

Happy birthday, Kannapolis.
It’s been 25 years since the city incorporated. Kannapolis has seen the demise of textiles and the rise of a scientific complex that wants to change the world.
Known for years as the largest unincorporated community in the country, Kannapolis suddenly had 29,000 citizens with the chiming of church bells at noon on Dec. 11, 1984.
Kannapolis had to grow up fast.
But the town had a unique identity long before it had an official charter.
Friday’s Salisbury Post will feature photos, articles and analysis to mark the 25th anniversary of the incorporation of Kannapolis.
