A group of children from the First United Methodist Church’s preschool class donated pennies collected to help others this holiday season.
“We do this every year,” said Patsy Langley after the youngsters brought what they collected in their Penny Harvest.
The children marched over from their South Church Street location and brought their hard earned (collected, that is) money to the Salisbury Post.
The children proudly posed for a photo in the Post lobby. They collected $221.25
At the beginning of November, the preschool class, which consists of 2-, 3- and 4-year- olds, set out a jar for loose change.
“It’s a traditional thing they do,” Langley said.
Bring contributions to the Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or mail them to The Salisbury Post, Christmas Happiness Fund, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, NC 28145-4639. Make checks payable to the Christmas Happiness Fund and indicate how you wish your donation listed.
