Don't miss Hall House Christmas
Published 12:00 am Wednesday, December 9, 2009
Only two more weekends remain to enjoy the beautiful Dr. Josephus Hall House in its Victorian Christmas finery, a Salisbury holiday tradition.
The house museum will be open for weekend holiday tours Saturdays and Sundays, December 12, 13, 19, and 20 from 1 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
A special candlelight tour is held on Christmas Eve from 6-8 p.m.
Admission for the weekend tours is $5 per person or $3 for members of Historic Salisbury Foundation. The Christmas Eve Candlelight Tour is by donation.
Historic Salisbury Foundation would like to thank the following volunteers for their dedication in decorating the Hall House for Christmas: Master Gardeners, Rowan Doll Society, Queen’s Gifts, Peek-A-Boo, Textile Products, Leslie Black, Ashley Sorrell, Lynda Errante and Nancy Clement. Although the house was built about 1820, the Victorian elements added by Dr. Hall in 1859 dominate the architectural and decorative style. The house provides a beautiful back-drop for the Victorian Christmas d cor. Swagged greenery, fruits and berries, antique toys, heirloom quilts and coverlets are all combined to transform the house and transport visitors back in time.
Christmas tours have been held every year since Historic Salisbury Foundation purchased the house in 1972.
The Hall House is located at 226 South Jackson Street in downtown Salisbury. Call Historic Salisbury Foundation office, 704-636-0103 with questions.
