Be a Santa to a Senior in third year

Be a Santa to a Senior has started with a great enthusiasm and wants to keep the momentum going so that all needy seniors will have a little something from Santa this Christmas.
This is the third year Home Instead Senior Care has sponsored this program. The program is aided with the help of the three local Walgreen’s stores to collect gifts for those seniors who may be needy, isolated or alone.
Participating Walgreen’s locations are:
– 1906 W. Innes St.,
– 705 W. Jake Alexander Blvd.,
– 1505 E. Innes St.
Trees are in all the stores with ornaments on them indicating the “wish lists” of seniors. People are asked to pick an ornament, buy the gifts, then return them and the tag to Walgreen’s.
Home Instead Senior Care will have a gift wrapping party Dec. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church’s fellowship hall and volunteers are welcome. The church is located at 223 N. Fulton St. and entry to the fellowship hall is by the door near the kitchen.
Donations by Oak Park Retirement Community and a local citizen provided all the wrapping paper.
“Thanks to all who are part of making a deserving senior smile this Christmas,” the statement said.
