Salisbury father charged with abusing newborn
A 26-year-old Salisbury man has been charged with felony child abuse of his five-week-old child who sustained a brain injury.
David Lee Uber, Inglewood Lane, was arrested Wednesday and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center.
Capt. John Sifford said the infant girl was taken to the emergency room at Rowan Regional Medical Center on Thanksgiving Day.
The infant was immediately transferred to the Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast children’s intensive care unit with a brain contusion and two rib fractures.
The Rowan County Department of Social Services has taken custody of the child and will be placing her in foster care.
Sifford said the investigation is continuing and charges are expected against the mother.
