Staff report
A woman was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte after a wreck Monday afternoon on Organ Church Road, the N.C. Highway Patrol said.
Patricia Murray, 67, of 128 Organ Trail, was driving south on Organ Church Road and tried to turn left onto Old Beatty Ford Road when she ran into another vehicle, Trooper B.P. Potts said.
Herschel Doster, 22, of 823 S. Vance St., Landis, veered his 2000 Dodge to the right trying to avoid Murray, Potts said, but her 1993 Toyota hit his truck in the rear left tire.
The impact caused Doster to spin out and his truck came to rest off the left side of the road, Potts said. Murray’s car rolled back into the southbound lane of Organ Church Road.
Neither vehicle sustained a lot of damage and the inside of Murray’s car wasn’t damaged at all, Potts said. She was wearing her seat belt, but possibly suffered a head injury from the air bag deploying, he said.
A nursing administrator at Carolinas Medical Center said Murray was not registered as a patient there Monday night. Doster was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center with back, arm and rib pain, Potts said.
