Principal named for Shive School

The Rowan-Salisbury Board of Education named Zebbie Boundurant principal of the new Ethan H. Shive Elementary School during a special meeting Monday.

Boundurant is an assistant principal at Knox Middle School and has been employed by the Rowan-Salisbury Schools since she started her career as a teacher’s assistant at Woodleaf Elementary in 1982.

Boundurant earned her Ed.S. degree in educational administration from Appalachian State University in 1996.

She also holds a master’s degree in education administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a kindergarten- through sixth-grade certification from Catawba College and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Appalachian.

Boundurant has also served as an assistant principal at North Rowan Elementary, Morgan Elementary, Southeast Middle and Erwin Middle schools.

She taught grades two, three and five for 10 years at Faith Elementary School and was named Faith’s Teacher of the Year three times.

Boundurant also received the Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher Enrichment Fellowship in 1990.
