They lined up in pairs, holding hands, for the trek to the Salisbury Post.

The two-block outing is an annual event for the 4-year-old preschool class at the First United Methodist Church on South Church Street.

This year, the pairs took turns pushing the bright yellow cart because it held precious cargo: Money that will make sure some less fortunate children have a Merry Christmas.

A total of $402.50 in coins, rolled in tubes and piled into a 2-foot-tall, decorated glass jar, was contributed by all of First Methodist’s preschool classes, but the 4 year olds got the honor of delivering it.
