Living in Pink, a new monthly group offering support and education for people with breast cancer and survivors of breast cancer, starts next month at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

The group will meet the first Wednesday of each month, beginning Jan. 3, at 6 p.m. in the conference room on the second floor of the medical center’s patient tower.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women and the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer. Currently in the United States, slightly more than 2 million women have been treated for breast cancer. The chance of a woman having breast cancer some time during her life is about 1 in 8.

Living in Pink is sponsored by Rowan Regional’s Cancer Care Center and Radiation Oncology Department, with Vicki Rhyne-Hunter serving as the group’s facilitator. Refreshments will be provided at each meeting, courtesy of Rowan Medical Facilities.
