This red Pontiac got the brunt of it. After colliding with a van, the car hit a tree last week.

N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper C.F. Rogers investigated the accident and said the driver of the Pontiac, David Frye of 607 Dodge St., Kannapolis, was headed south on Ebenezer Road when he crossed the center line around a curve.

The Pontiac front end hit the left front of a van, driven by Deborah Schmidt, 950 Ebenezer Road.

Frye hit the tree in Kim Rogers’ yard at 1250 Ebenezer Road. The van came to rest near woods on the right side of the road.

Frye, Schmidt and a passenger in Schmidt’s van, Elnora Bloss of Kannapolis, were all transported to NorthEast Medical Center, said Mount Mitchell Assistant Fire Chief Randall Ritchie. Mount Mitchell firefighters had to free all three people.
