CONCORD — A 44-year-old Concord man died from injuries sustained in an accident involving his all-terrain vehicle.
Bruce J. Hayes died in an accident near his home on Saddlewood Circle in the Old South Subdivision, according to Annette Privette, public relations manager for the city of Concord.
Officers arrived at the corner of Farmwood Boulevard and Woodcrest Drive around 6:40 p.m. Wednesday and found Hayes lying in a ditch with his four-wheeler near him.
Hayes had been riding the 2003 Yamaha four-wheeler near his home when he attempted to turn right from Farmwood Boulevard onto Woodcrest Drive, Privette said.
He apparently lost control of the all-terrain vehicle and crashed into the ditch. He was taken to NorthEast Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Indications are that Hayes was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, Privette said. Evidence also indicated Hayes had consumed alcohol prior to the accident, Privette said.
