Cabarrus senior participants qualify for national games

At the North Carolina Senior Games State Finals, the Cabarrus Senior Games had 14 participants qualify for the 2007 National Senior Games. The Nationals will be held in Louisville, Ky., on June 22 – July 7, 2007.

The Cabarrus Senior Games qualifiers were: Mary Caudle, Thomas Caulfield, Carolyn Crisco, Jim Greenlees, Margaret Hagerty, Dennis Hall, Georgia Harris, John Hewitt, Margaret Hewitt, Anna Jakubek, Ladislav “Walt” Jakubek, Rex McCall, June Mucci and Chimi Sada.

This delegation of Cabarrus Senior Games participants will be competing against qualifiers from 49 other states and Canada.

The National Games competition is a biennial event and is held in different sites across the United States.

Cabarrus Senior Games is part of a network of over 50 local senior games programs across North Carolina that serve all 100 counties.

In the spring of 2006 over 200 adults age 55 and older participated in Cabarrus Senior Games and 66 competed in the North Carolina Senior Games State Finals in the fall.

North Carolina Senior Games is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing year-round health promotion and education for adults 55 years of age and older, and is sponsored statewide by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services.
