The J. F. Hurley Family YMCA “Y” Wonders group for older adults has a number of events coming up. All ages are welcome to participate.
Activities include:
n Big Band Dance featuring the “Hi-Liters” 8 p.m., the first Saturday of each month, $5. Participants are invited to bring a snack to share.
n Book club meets 12:30 p.m. second Fridays.
n The “Y” Wonders Singers will resume rehearsals at 1 p.m., Aug. 20 To join this group, call director Kathy Norris, 704-636-7145 by Aug. 13.
n Visit to Billy Graham Library, Charlotte, Aug. 21, $10. Departs from YMCA at 9 a.m. Lunch is on your own. Deadline to register is Aug. 15.
n “Y” Wonders covered dish will be held at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
n Life Line Screening is Aug. 30. Four tests are available: for stroke, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral arterial disease and osteoporosis. Call 1 800-324-1851 for an appointment.
n Trip to Discovery Place to see “Body Worlds,” Aug. 30, $25 for ticket and transportation. Departing 9 a.m. from the YMCA.
n Rowan Memory Walk is Sept. 22. Sponsors and walkers are needed.
n Trip to Southern Women’s Show, Sept. 21, $18. Departs at 9 a.m.
n Trip to Savannah, Ga., Oct. 14-17. Costs $489 per person based on double occupancy. Payment is due by Aug. 15.
