YMCA and Intimidators join for special night

In what has become a local tradition, the Kannapolis Intimidators will host 750 youths and coaches from the Cannon Memorial YMCA Spring Soccer program tonight at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
The Intimidators will be playing the Lake County Captains.
Three of the YMCA coaches will throw out the first pitch for the first three innings. During inning breaks, the kids will be able to participate in games on the field and run the bases. The YMCA will provide giveaways for the children and other guests.
Many children in YMCA programs like spring soccer are only able to participate because of the YMCA’s Open Doors financial assistance program. Last year, the Cannon Memorial YMCA provided nearly $100,000 in financial assistance to Cabarrus County and Kannapolis families to allow them to learn to swim, play sports like soccer and to utilize its before- and after-school child-care program.
The YMCA is kicking off its annual support drive, the Strong Kids Campaign that funds the Open Doors Scholarship program. Because the YMCA is non-profit, all donations are tax deductible and all donations go directly to funding the scholarship program.
All donations are welcome. Two fundraisers are coming up: the Kick-off Event at NASCAR Speedpark on May 15 and the annual Putt Kids First Golf Tournament on June 4.
