By Holly Fesperman LeeSalisbury PostA Woodleaf teenager was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center Monday evening after he lost control of his car and hit a tree.
Adam Jared Flynn, 18, of 2210 Potneck Road, was traveling 70 mph in a 55 mph zone on Woodleaf Road when he rounded a curve near Goodson Road and crossed the center line, according to North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper D.T. Sloop.
Sloop said Flynn overcorrected, then ran off the side of Woodleaf Road and hit a tree.
Flynn’s 1998 Honda Accord spun clockwise, hit another grove of trees and spun again before it came to rest on the side of Woodleaf Road.
Emergency responders first called for a helicopter but later decided to take Flynn to Rowan Regional by ambulance.
Sloop said he visited Flynn at the hospital later in the evening and expected he would be treated and released.
Flynn has elbow and facial injuries, according to Sloop.
Alcohol was not a factor in the New Year’s Eve accident, Sloop said. Flynn is charged with exceeding a safe speed for the curve.
