Staff report
A woman has been charged with arson in connection with a fire that damaged a mobile home Sunday at 154 Roy Miller Road, off St. Matthews Church Road.
The Rowan County Fire Marshal’s Office and Rowan County Sheriff’s Investigator David Earnhardt determined the fire was deliberately set. During the investigation, the occupant of the rental mobile home, Veronica Nance, became a suspect, authorities said.
Nance was charged with second-degree arson and placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
Authorities said the investigation also revealed Nance had plans to leave the state.
