Woman charged with embezzling from Salisbury church
A Salisbury woman has been charged with embezzling $40,000 from Dayspring Presbyterian Church on Statesville Boulevard.
Mary Westina Kennedy of Valentine Court, was charged Friday. She was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond pending a first-appearance hearing in Rowan County District Court.
The money was embezzled from Oct. 1, 2006 through Feb. 29, 2008, according to the arrest report.
