Authorities have charged a woman who witnessed a murder at Amity Hills Farm Tuesday morning.
Rowan County Sheriff’s Officials have charged Mirna Del Carmen Guevara, 38, of 2065 Mount Tabor Church Road, with accessory after the fact to murder.
Investigators said the suspect is her estranged husband, Balmore Merino, 38, of Iredell County.
Guevara was present when the shooting occurred in front of her residence.
She initially provided sheriff’s investigators with false information as to the identity of the suspect.
Guevara told investigators that she did not know the identity of the person who shot the victim, Parra “Pollo” Policarpio, 43, when she in fact did know Merino.
Merino is still at large and possibly in a 1999 Chrysler Town and Country minivan with North Carolina license plate TYJ 2299.
The van is described as either dark blue or purple in color.
Officials are not certain the direction of travel at present.
Sheriff George Wilhelm confirmed the vehicle is registered to Guevara.
Wilhelm also said Merino had been deported at least one, possibly two times.
Guevara is possibly in the United States on a work visa.
She is in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond.
Merino should be considered armed and dangerous.
