Walk MS Salisbury, hosted by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mid-Atlantic Chapter, takes place Saturday at Rowan Public Library, 201 W. Fisher St.
Walkers have raised pledges if they complete the 3-mile walk around downtown Salisbury.
The Mid-Atlantic Chapter will host Walk MS events in 19 communities across the Carolinas this spring.
Walk MS Salisbury begins at 9 a.m. with check-in. The walk itself kicks off an hour later.
More than 500,000 people nationwide live with multiple sclerosis, a chronic, unpredictable neurological disease that most often strikes otherwise healthy adults generally between the ages of 20 and 50. MS can cause blurred vision, loss of balance, poor coordination, slurred speech, tremors, numbness, extreme fatigue, problems with memory and concentration, paralysis and blindness.
All monies raised through Walk MS go to support programs for local clients living with MS and MS research. For more information, go online to the MS Web site, http://walkncp.nationalmssoci ety.org.
