Two under $10,000 bond on drug charges
Two men face drug charges after officers found approximately 2 pounds of marijuana during a vehicle stop at South Main Street and Jake Alexander Boulevard Thursday.
Marshall Hopkins Beard, 30, 8618 Grueunwald Lane, Charlotte, and James Gilmer Pope III, 33, 207 N. Franklin St., China Grove, were both charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule IV, marijuana. Beard was also charged with maintaining a vehicle for the distribution of controlled substances.
Salisbury Police drug investigators and State Bureau of Investigation officers conducted the stop in connection with a monthlong drug investigation. Officers seized marijuana and $2,890 in cash. Beard was driving the truck.
Both were placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under $10,000 bond each pending a first appearance in Rowan County District Court.
