Three charged during search

EAST SPENCER — Police have charged three people with drug offenses and issued warrants for a fourth after a raid on an apartment Friday night.

Based on a narcotics investigation conducted by Lt. J. R. Schmierer, East Spencer officers using a search warrant, raided an apartment at 300 Adams St.

Chief Eric Williams said officers seized cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cash.

Those charged include:

* Kenneth D. Carpenter, 23, 800 S. Long St., charged with felony possession of cocaine. Bond was set at $2,500.

Police reported Carpenter was charged in October 2006 with possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine.

* Damarious Crawford, 16, of 203 Torbush Ave, charged with possession of marijuana. Bond set at $1,000.

* William Isaac Sanders, 24, of 208 Lafayette St., Salisbury was charged with possession of marijuana. He was cited and released.

Police pointed out that Sanders had been released from the N.C. Department of Corrections 24 hours before his arrest.

East Spencer Police hold warrants for Lakeisha L. Carpenter, 20, of 300 Adams St. Apt. 1, the apartment that was searched. She is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers from the N.C. Alcohol Law Enforcement assisted with the raid around 11 p.m. Friday.
