ROCKWELL ó Three men were arrested for their involvement in multiple robberies, including one that occurred in Rockwell about three weeks ago.
Charged are: Charles Richard “Ritchie” Clark Jr., of Troy, Ricky Lee Vanhoy and Justin Ryan Farmer, both of Albermarle.
In late February, the Rockwell Police were looking for men involved in an attempted armed robbery at the Kangaroo convenience store on E. Main Street.
The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office arrested Vanhoy and Farmer in early March, followed by Clark a week or so later. Clark is believed to be the driver in the robberies.
One of the men went into the store wearing a fatigue-styled jacket and wielding a knife. He demanded cash and got into a dark green Ford Escort. The same method was used at each robbery.
In the Rockwell robbery, they attempted to make a purchase and then demanded money, but they left the store empty-handed when they weren’t able to get the register opened.
The arrest was made in Stanly County where the connection was made between the Richfield and Rockwell robberies.
“It was between us and Stanly County. We worked it together,” Rockwell Police Chief Hugh Bost said.
He said a couple of anonymous tips helped investigators locate the suspects.
