KANNAPOLIS ó Another Hispanic grocery store was robbed Sunday night, the third in two days in Kannapolis and Concord.
And Kannapolis police say the two young Hispanic men who robbed La Placita grocery, at 453 S. Cannon Blvd., around 8 p.m. Sunday are likely the same two men who robbed La Pequena grocery in Kannapolis and La Tienda grocery in Concord Saturday night.
“Right now, we believe they are connected,” Kannapolis Detective Sgt. Chris Nesbitt said Monday.
Nesbitt said no arrests have been made in the robberies.
In each case, one of the young men pointed a handgun at store employees and customers and demanded money. After getting money from the store register, and sometimes customers, the men left.
In the Saturday night robberies, witnesses saw a silver or gray vehicle, and one witness in Concord described the vehicle as “beaten up.”
The Sunday robbery occurred about 7:55 p.m. La Placita is located in a small building next to a much larger building used as a variety/thrift store.
After one of the men pointed a gun, the men grabbed cash from the register and a wallet from a customer.
A report on the Sunday night robbery said the two suspects left in a similar manner, Nesbitt said.
Police ask that anyone with information about any of the robberies call Crime Stoppers at 704-93CRIME (932-7463).
